What to do if the U.S. escalates the war on Iraq . . .

The following is a list in formation of emergency actions that are planned thus far.  Organizers expect many more actions to be underway shortly.

CALL FOR HIGH SCHOOL PROTESTS!


WHEN: AFTER MILITARY ATTACK
12:00 noon-1pm at the STATEHOUSE steps, TRENTON
to bring our message to the highest concentration of media in the state.
5:00 - 6:00pm PALMER SQ, Nassau St, PRINCETON
to voice our protest at the traditional town square.

Newark / Montclair Area

If bombing begins on a Sunday through Thursday, the following day, gather in front of Senator Jon Corzine's office, at 1 Gateway Plaza, in Newark -- on the Market Street side --at 5:30pm. We will hold a vigil there and, most likely, march around the corner to vigil at Lautenberg's office, as well. If the bombing begins on a Friday or a Saturday, we will then meet at 12 noon at the same place -- and from there, continue along the same route we used for the Peace Train on December 7th.  For more info: Madelyn Hoffman, Director, NJ Peace Action, (973)744-3263

Students gather at the Paul Robeson Campus Center Plaza at 4:30 PM on  the day of or after the war starts and march to join the People's Organization for Progress at Broad and Market Sts. at 5:00 PM.

People’s Organization for Progress, Newark Emergency Plan, If Bush bombs Iraq, Go to Broad and Market to protest.  If the news comes during the day:  Go at 5:00 PM the SAME DAY
If the news comes at night: Go at 5:00 PM the NEXT DAY
A statewide coalition will gather at Sen. Corzine’s office and march to City Hall. Kinney St. in Newark at 6:00 PM.

If the bombing begins at night, the protest will take place at 5 pm on the next day.

Another Newark Demonstration on Friday, March 21:

The People's Organization For Progress (POP) will demonstrate against President Bush's war with Iraq on Friday, March 21, 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Broad and Market Streets in the heart of downtown Newark, New Jersey.  The demonstration will take place on Broad Street between Market and Bank Streets (near 787).   Contact Larry Hamm, , 973-801-0001




Camden  on Friday March 21
11:45 am - Meet at New Visions Community Services in Camden, 523 Stevens St. - March to L3 Communications (Lockheed) and then to Federal Building.  Federal Building will include non-violent civil disobedience by a small number of participants and a 100% legal Protest of supporters.

Emergency response plan: Cranford residents meet in Cranford Peace Site Park at 6:30 pm the evening following an attack on Iraq, then meet Westfield residents at the corner of Elm and E. Broad Streets in Westfield at 7 pm for a joint demonstration.

As planned, the HCCPJ is calling for an emergency gathering of all peace activists at Journal Square, Jersey City, tomorrow (Friday March 21st) at 5:00 p.m. We urge all of you to attend and demonstrate your disgust with this illegal aggression. Bring your signs, posters, etc.


Lakehurst

ON THE EVENING OF ESCALATION OF ATTACK:

Gather opposite the entrance to the Lakehurst Naval Air Station, on 547, North of Rt. 70. 70.  Parking available in lots next to church or bar just South of the Lakehurst Naval Air Station.  Bring candles or flashlights and signs which show concern for our citizens in the military, like "Bring Our Children Home" and "Peace Is A Soldier's Best Hope."  On the evening of a US military invasion of Iraq, a silent candlelight vigil will be held across from the Lakehurst Naval Air Station. Ocean County / Monmouth County / Red Bank Area Plans
In the event that the initiation of war is officially acknowledged by the United States against Iraq.  The Central NJ Coalition for Peace and Justice will assemble at the West Gate of Fort Monmouth (Rt. 35 and Tinton Ave., Eatontown) the day after from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM.

Princeton

War has begun. As you read, massive suffering is being inflicted on thousands of Iraqis. Come express your sorrow, fear and outrage. The Princeton Peace Network invites you to the following events TODAY:

2 pm-meet at Robertson Hall to begin funeral procession

3 pm-anti-war rally at Robertson Hall

4 pm-funeral procession continues through town

5 pm-Coalition for Peace Action Anti-war rally at Palmer Square

The funeral procession will include costumes, music, masks and other props. If possible, please dress in black to symbolize our sorrow at the death and suffering that will be unleashed in this war.

The funeral procession will be leaving from the courtyard of the Woodrow Wilson School (aka Robertson Hall) at 2 pm (see directions below). We will weave through campus arriving back at Robertson Hall for a 3pm rally with speakers and music. The funeral procession will continue after the rally, weaving through town to Palmer Square for the Coalition for Peace Action's rally at 5pm.
